El Capitan encourages parents involvement in school at many levels. The following organizations are in place to give parents a voice. If you would interested in joining either of these groups, please contact Lillian Musser.
PAC (Parent Advisory Council)
Parent Advisory Council’s primary function is to assist the school in engaging parents in the learning process.
PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Organization)
Sarah Barlow, President
PTSA is an organization of parents, teachers and students who volunteer to make a positive difference in the lives of children. Anyone can join: Parents, guardians, students, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, neighbors, business, etc. All are welcome. Contact Shela at 435 212-3212 if you would like to get involved.
Career and Technical Education Local Evaluation Team
This team consists of parents, businesses and community members. The primary function of this team is to review the goals and objectives of the Career and Technical Education grant and make recommendations to the school regarding the needs of the business community. This grant helps the school provide training for students that will give them job-ready trade skills upon graduation.
The “No Child Left Behind” legislation monitors the District’s Title I funding. This committee includes parents, businesses, and community members and is used to develop the School-wide plan for the Colorado City Unified School District. This plan guides expenditures from the Title I, Title II, and Title V grants.
